UE150 has formed a committee to monitor and push back against the pending changes to the State Health Plan. Last week, we attended the State Health Plan Board of Trustees meeting where the proposed changes (linked here) were approved.
Additionally, the State Senate approved a bill last week to limit what the health plan covers. This is NOT good for state workers.
“There’s 58 mandated coverages,” Senator Jim Burgin said in a committee hearing Tuesday. “You know, I tell people all the time, God only had to have 10 commandments.”
In the coming weeks, we will be rolling out an action plan to push back. The big fight is going to be challenging the NC Legislatures to properly fund our benefits and stop prioritizing their special interests — the corporations and the wealthy!
