CONVENTION CALL!

13th Biennial Statewide UE150 Convention

August 10 – 11, 2024

Franklinton Center at Bricks, 281 Southbend Lane, Whitakers, NC

Dear fellow union members,

On behalf of the UE Local 150 Executive Board, I am pleased to announce our 13th Biennial Statewide UE Local 150 Convention! The convention will be held on August 10-11, 2024 at the Franklinton Center at Bricks located in Whitakers, North Carolina. The Executive Board will meet on Friday, August 9.

The convention theme this year will be Resist, Restore and Revitalize! Resist the attacks from the state legislature and our bosses. Restore our rights that have been taken away. Revitalize our union chapter organization and membership levels so that we have the power to make the changes in our workplace and our communities that we deserve.

Throughout our state, workers are sick and tired of being sick and tired. Whether it’s low pay, understaffing, toxic management, corporate greed, or pay-to-work situations our university workers find themselves in, there is much to be done. With the looming November 2024 state and federal election, there is much at stake this year. Meanwhile, our government continues to funnel weapons to support the bombardment of Palestine in our name.

We invite all our members to participate in this year’s convention to see our accomplishments over the past two years, reflect on our lessons, and plan for our collective work ahead. We have engaged in many battles and secured many victories.

Our members run the union! Your input is important as we continue to fight racism, for better pay, safe working conditions, protect voting rights, defend public services and affordable healthcare. We are excited about the work and activities in the upcoming year and it starts here with the convention. I look forward to seeing you there!
