In the middle of the rain, UE150 members at Longleaf Center in Wilson rallied last week after NC Department of Health and Human Services snatched back an “overpayment”. Workers have been told they would be getting Labor Market Adjustments and a bonus, so expected this was their rightful pay. Then payroll told them of a clerical error and took all the money back out of their next paychecks.
Tameka Hamilton, an employee at Longleaf Neuro-Medical Treatment Center, said she was expecting a bonus when she received her January paycheck. “When we saw the extra money in our checks, that is what we thought it was, a bonus,” Hamilton said.
